"Walk With Me"

When was the last time you watched God make a morning?  

One morning I decided to get dressed very early and go for a walk in the crisp, clean North Carolina, USA air.  As I walked, I thought about all the perspective problems that I may have to deal with today.  And as I thought, a few drivers passed me by, headed to the future or from the past.  And as I continued to walk in thought, I could hear the birds calling out for breakfast, and laying out their plans for the day.  

When I had come to myself and noticed that there were now open fields all around me, I realized how far I had gone.  But as I turned to head back, I saw something in the distance that seemed to whisper my name.  I walked into the field and sat down on a tree stump that was there.  (As if it had been placed there just for me.)   . . . And I listened  . . . And I watched . . . And I listened.  And suddenly I realized that I DID NOT decide "to get dressed very early and go for a walk in the crisp, clean air".  God knew my thoughts for today long before I had thought them.  Loving Father that He is, and not wanting me to worry, He gently awakened me and said, "Come.  Walk with Me to a place I will show you."  So I sat there intently as He took a brush and began to paint.  And as He painted, He reminded me, among other things, that while I may not know what each day holds, I know full well Who holds each day.  

After a few minutes (which seemed like hours) had gone by, He was done speaking.  And I was grateful for His thoughts, and overwhelmed by His finished work.  And as a tear rolled down my face, I lost any remnant doubt that I was in His presence.  I removed my shoes, got on me knees, and applauded the works of His hands--  The work He had just completed, and the work He was about to do.  I walked back with a new and improved spiritual attitude.  And I was ready to face the day, knowing that He was already there.

So I ask again: When was the last time you watched God make a morning?  Well, I challenge you to do it at least once, but real soon.  It's quite a show.  One that God, Himself, watched and said, "That's good!"
